Nauticraft Encore Pedal/Electric Boat

All three of Nauticrafts pedal boats feature form-fitting recumbent style seats that are fully padded. They adjust to 11 positions fore and aft to accommodate all leg lengths, and are so comfortable that extended excursions are thoroughly enjoyable. One important feature about Nauticraft boats is that they are "dry" pedal boats. There's no need to worry about getting wet - you can wear street clothes. But, if you want to swim off the Escapade and Encore, it's easy to climb back in due to molded-in swim platforms and reboarding handholds.

All of Nauticraft pedal boats share a specially designed drive unit that mates bicycle pedals and crank arms with an industrial toothed belt and sprockets. The long belt twists four times between two large sprockets and two small sprockets - an incredibly simple design that gives required speed increase while effecting the directional transition to the propeller shaft.

The propeller is also specially designed for Nauticraft pedal boats, a two-blade type of large (15") diameter. A "nose" extension transfers thrust directly to the keel(s) of the boat. This means the drive shaft does not have to carry thrust to the drive unit, where a bearing system would be required to deal with it.

Retaining the pedal drive system of the Encore P, this model features a 52 pound thrust electric drive for supplemental power. As mentioned above, the motor with its direct mounted propeller is located down between the Encores keels. The necessary electrical support components, including the single 12-volt battery, are hidden away in the Encores front storage compartment. A compact box controller with forward-reverse switch and twist-knob speed control is conveniently positioned next to the steering control.
